First run, Claude may ask to allow outbound access to
freetoday.ai — click Allow. Normal one-time prompt, not an error.
Three steps. The middle one is the fun one.
No menus, no map UI, no notifications. Just a phrase that returns the goods.
Install the skill
One line in your terminal. The skill weighs less than a small JPG and ships with zero runtime dependencies.
Ask the phrase
Type What's free today? in any agent session. The skill reads your area from your system locale — no precise GPS.
Auto-redeem, or grab the code
Pick a deal and choose: let the skill redeem it for you (it drives the merchant's site), or just get a voucher code — verified once by phone — to redeem in the app yourself.
One phrase. Real output.
Sample response from a session in Lower Manhattan during June 9–12, 2026 — when both partners run side by side. Results vary by area and partner availability.
Boringly honest about a few important things.
No dark patterns, no "free trial," no email walls. If we ever change that, we'll lose our right to call this thing freetoday.
Area, not coordinates.
freetoday reads your neighborhood or city from your existing system locale. We don't ask for GPS, and we never store precise location data — there's nowhere on disk for it to live.
Verified, not scraped.
Every offering is human-checked against a partner email or signed confirmation. If a deal turns out to require a signup, a tip, or a "share to claim," it's not on freetoday. Full stop.
No newsletter, no upsell.
freetoday has no logged-in surface. There's no account to create, no email to capture, no premium tier waiting on the other side of "install now." It's a skill that returns a list.
Open source. Read the code.
AGPL-3.0-licensed, ~600 lines. The whole thing fits on your screen. If you want to see how a result becomes a result, the file is right there.
Live this week.
A short list to start. We'd rather verify five places carefully than list fifty we don't know.
The honest questions.
If yours isn't here, the GitHub issues tab is the right place.
